A mozaikgyepek szerepe a szalakóta (Coracias garrulus) táplálkozó területeinek megőrzésében
Absztrakt
A síkvidéki mezőgazdasági és gyepterületek természetvédelmi tevékenységek szempontjából kiemelkedő jelentőséggel bírnak, mivel mintegy 120 SPEC (Species of European Conservation Concern) prioritású madárfaj költő-és telelőterületét jelentik. Ugyanakkor a gyepekhez és a mezőgazdasági területekhez kötődő madárfajok védelmi helyzete a legrosszabb Európában (BirdLife International 2004). Az 1970-es évektől kezdődően figyelhető meg a csökkenés ezeknél a fajoknál (BirdLife International 2004). Az 1990-2000 közötti időszakban a vizsgált, ezekhez a területekhez kötődő 58 fajból 41 állománya mutatott csökkenő trendet, ebből 19-nél ez szignifikáns volt (Donald et al. 2006). Az egyre intenzívebbé váló mezőgazdasági művelés következtében sok legelőt és kaszálót vettek művelés alá, illetve jellemző volt a természetes, féltermészetes területek eltűnése (Fuller et al. 1991, Tucker & Evans 1997). Ezek a változások a táplálék minőségének és mennyiségének megváltozásán keresztül hatással lehetnek az itt élő madárpopulációkra (Benton 2002).
