About the Journal

The Hungarian Journal of Hydrology, the periodical of the Hungarian Hydrological Society has been published since 1921 in Hungarian, but also containing English title, summary, table and figure captions. The publication is one of Europe's oldest water-related professional periodicals. The journal publishes articles on the fields of engineering, natural sciences and professional law, related to water and water management. It publishes quarterly, occasionally some thematic special issues. The journal is peer-reviewed.
The journal's articles are freely accessible (open access). Since 2023, the articles have CrossRef DOI identifier. The articles are indexed by the Hungarian Science Bibliography (MTMT) and archived by the REAL repository. Complete volumes are archived in the REAL-J repository.

The Editorial Board of the Hungarian Journal of Hydrology established in 1921, considers the following access guidelines to be authoritative in order to preserve the scientific and historical value of the journal:

2. The name, ORCID identification number, institutional affiliation and email address of the author(s) will be published by the journal (in the pre-agreed form) both in the printed publication and on the website.
3. The authors do not pay or receive any fees for the publication of the studies.
4. The review (proofreading) version of the studies sent to the editors of Hungarian Journal of Hydrology, as well as the printed and electronic (pdf) version of the publisher's version, is an Open Access communication published under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). According to this, all users must make a reference to the field of study when partially or fully accepting or using the studies (BY), the work may be freely copied, distributed, presented and performed, but can not be used for commercial purposes (NC), and in the case of reprocessing under the same conditions must be shared (SA).
5. From 2023, the Hungarian Journal of Hydrology will publish and index the publisher's version of the studies published in digital format in pdf format after publication in the Open Journal System archive of the Hungarian Journal of Hydrology, in the repository of the REAL-MTA Library.
