Abstract

In the Event section of the Hungarian Journal os Hydrology we also report on the work of the departments of the Hungarian Hydrological Society. Below, the Department of Water Quality and Water Technology Department of the MHT presents the recommendations and suggestions of the 19th Drinking Water Safety Conference.

Author Biographies

Mátyás Borsányi , MHT Water Quality and Water Technology Department

MÁTYÁS BORSÁNYI  Dr. tech., graduated in chemical engineering from the Budapest University of Technology with a degree in biochemistry and food technology. He has worked at the National Institute of Public Health since the 1970s, and was the founder and head of the Water Safety Department. His main areas of expertise are drinking water quality regulation, biotechnological drinking water treatment, and drinking water disinfection. He was a member of the (ENDWARE) working groups developing domestic (MSZ) and international (ISO, CEN) water testing standards and EU drinking water quality regulations. He is the preparer of the domestic introduction of the WHO water safety planning program. Since the 1970s, he has been a member, secretary, and currently president of the Water Quality (formerly Water Chemistry) and Water Technology Department of the Hungarian Hydrological Society.

Dóra Laky , MHT Water Quality and Water Technology Department

LAKY DÓRA PhD, graduated as a civil engineer, she is an associate professor of Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Department of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering. Her main fields are drinking water treatment, especially the treatment of subsurface waters (arsenic removal, iron and manganese removal, formation of by-products). She is member of the Hungarian Hydrological Society and the Hungarian Water Association. She is member of the editorial board of Hírcsatorna (journal of the Hungarian Water Association).
