Abstract

Lányi András's book Karátson Gábor was published in 2022, in which, in my opinion, the author paints a distorted picture of our profession, disproportionately exaggerates the issue of the Nagymaros dam compared to the country's other environmental challenges, and maintains his ideas from thirty-five years ago. In my writing, I try to refute some of the serious claims in the book. I originally intended the writing for the Válaszonline website in order to reach a wider audience, but they did not want to publish the article, saying they did not see its relevance.

Author Biography

Géza Hajnal, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, Department of Hydraulic and Water Resources Engineering

GÉZA HAJNAL graduated from the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) in 1993 with a degree in civil engineering, and in 1994 he received a certificate in engineering teaching from the same university. He received his PhD in 2002. Since 2008, he has been an associate professor at the Department of Hydraulic Engineering and Water Management, and was the head of the department between 2017 and 2020. His main research areas are hydrogeology and water balance calculations. He has been awarded the János Bolyai Research Scholarship twice (2004-2006, 2008-2010) for his research in the field of hydrogeology. In 2020, he defended his dissertation in literary studies at the University of Pécs
