Aquinói Szent Tamás és az ereklyék tisztelete: teológiai kérdés és devóció
Absztrakt
Thomas Aquinas is venerated first and foremost as a speculative theologian who is extremely reticent – with some rare exceptions – on his own personal religious practice. However, the cult of relics is a meeting point of these two aspects, and therefore it offers an area of study hitherto unexplored. Dating from 1272, the sources on the life of Aquinas describe an episode which testifies how himself venerated the relics of Saint Agnes Virgin and Martyr. My question is whether this segment of his personal religious practice had any visible impact on his theological oeuvre. With an example taken from the Tertia pars of the Summa, I would like to show that the answer could be affirmative: Aquinas composed a theological reflection on the cult of relics which cannot be disconnected from his own devotional practice.
