Abstract

In July 2024, we conducted a capture-mark-recapture study of the Common Predatory Bush-cricket on Nagy-Vásár Hill (Csákvár), using UV-light visible markings with felt-tip pens and night searches. During the study, we had a total of 20 Saga pedo records (different individuals on different days), of which 11 were marked. The average recapture rate was 48% (based on recaptures/potential recaptures per individuals). The median of the measured daily movements was 12.7 m. The minimum daily shift was 4.6 m and the maximum 43.7 m. The results showed that the activity of the studied individuals was significantly higher than previously known from published data. Because of the habitat, the study population is not threatened by succession, game density is tolerable, and no specific conservation action is required to preserve the local population of the species.
