The green transformation of aviation. The future of transport after the pandemic.

Keywords: tourism, air transport

Abstract

In our study, we examined the changes brought about by the coronavirus pandemic in the air transport sector, the concept of responsible air travel, the reasons behind the "greening" of low-cost airlines, how aircraft emissions compare to those of other modes of transport, and why the psychological dimension has become an integral part of sustainability.

Based on our research, we conclude that there is no viable long-term alternative to air travel—a point we sought to substantiate with calculations. From a societal perspective, the fast-paced nature of the modern world makes quick and easy access to destinations increasingly important.

Airlines must convince passengers that their efforts are genuine and reinforce their credibility in their messaging to encourage passengers to pay a premium for "green" services. This appears to be the next step toward successfully capitalizing on their green marketing initiatives.
