The legal institution of compulsory forensic psychiatric treatment in relation to female offenders
Abstract
The study aims to present the current situation of female patients undergoing compulsory forensic psychiatric treatment, their psychiatric characteristics, and the criminological characteristics related to their criminal behavior. The research covers the examination of all internal psychological processes and external social factors that play a role in the manifestation of these motivations in the form of offending. Using qualitative research methods, the authors combine a review of national and international literature with interviews conducted at the Forensic Psychiatric and Mental Institution, with the aim of exploring the operation of the Women’s Psychiatric and Rehabilitation Department, comparing specific treatment strategies applied to women with protocols documented in foreign source works, and also focusing on issues of follow-up and resocialization.
