The relevance of closed institutional reintegration activities for juvenile offenders
Abstract
The aim of the study is to examine the relevance of reintegration activities applied in closed institutional settings in the case of juvenile offenders. The structural characteristics of closed institutions and the effects of incarceration can reduce the chances of social reintegration, but these effects can be mitigated with appropriate interventions. The activities examined – such as education, preparation for work after release, self-sufficiency tasks, mental health support programs, and maintaining family relationships – contribute in a complex way to the development of a norm-compliant lifestyle. Furthermore, reintegration is not only an individual rehabilitation effort, but also a social expectation, so it is worth working to increase its widespread acceptance.
