Abstract

Published in 2016 by Amsterdam University Press, The Problem of Theatrical Autonomy – Analysing Theatre as a Theatre as a Social Practice analyses the ways in which theatre as a social practice is conceived, as well as autonomy itself as an organizing principle and a possible key concept for further research in the sociology of theatre. The editors, or rather co-authors, were interested in studying art from a sociological perspective.
