Conversation with Professor Géza Balázs, Head of the Speech Culture Committee of the SZFE

Abstract

The quality of public speech has been discussed since ancient times. The rhetoric that is still alive and current today was born in ancient times. It has been taught regularly since the Middle Ages, which had a great influence on artistic language use. Although linguists are wary of the term language deterioration, they do not deny that there are plenty of problems with language use that can be improved. And even critics constantly complain about the use of language on stage and in film. At my request, I myself developed a speechwriter and lecturer course, it was an incredible success. This indicates that there is a huge need for effective speech education.
