Review of Ildikó Tamás:

„Adj netet!” – Linguistic, visual expression and creativity in children’s and student folklore

Keywords: linguistic folklore, linguistics, offline and online hybrid behavior, linguistic signs

Abstract

Ildikó Tamás, linguist and ethnographer, focused primarily on the folklore world of children and young people, but she sometimes gives poems as examples. The common interest of folklorist and linguist is the grammatical and semantic study of the text repertoire. Her book explores the following questions: linguistic phenomena (genres) of children's and student folklore, characteristics of groups of works (old and new genres, oral-written transitions, offline-online register switching, "meme-culture"), and two priority areas of the creative process: folk etymology and gibberish. Method: anthropological-folkloristic, including observation, interview. Research into children's and student folklore has already revealed many linguistic treasures; And new technologies offer even more surveillance possibilities.
