Tokaj on the grape and the wine markets

Keywords: Tokaj wine region, wine market, analysis

Abstract

Tokaj is among the geographical indications that enjoy legal protection. This study summarizes the results of the author’s latest research on the economic value of geographical indications (GIs), with particular focus on the Tokaj Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). The analysis extends beyond the wine market to examine the impact of the Tokaj PDO on grape prices. Additionally, the study analyzes how producers use the Tokaj designation on their labels.
