Feasibility study on the interconnection of metro line M2 and suburban railway line H5 in Budapest
Abstract
The project intended to determine the demand and technical feasibility for the connection of the two lines. After a preliminary traffic demand assessment and simulation runs, a complex timetable for the Stadtbahn-like lines consisting of a total of 4 branches was designed, assuming that the connection of metro line M2 and suburban railway lines H8 and H9 at Örs vezér square is already implemented. The technically compromised solution becomes easier to implement with the new HÉV technical specifications. The project is economically profitable.
