Abstract

This year will mark the 84th anniversary of the establishment of a research institute for automobilism in Hungary, which followed
just a few years after the establishment of similar institutes in developed Western European countries. With the foundation of the National Automobile Experiment Station, the legal predecessor
of today's KTI in 1938, The Royal Hungarian Ministry of Trade and Transport recognized the ever growing importance of road transport. In the last decade, the Institute for Transport Sciences, which has significantly expanded in its organization and responsibilities, has become an active supporter of and partner to Hungarian transport policy.
