Hiátusos kontextusok temporális mintázata gyermekek beszédében
Abstract
Vowel hiatus is resolved through different mechanisms such as vowel assimilation, vowel deletion, glide or consonant epenthesis, as well as morphologically conditioned consonant insertion. Hiatus resolution may have different ways within the same language as it is the case in Hungarian. Phonological departure is that (i) a [j]-like filler always occurs between two neighboring vowels when one of them is an [i], (ii) there is no hiatus filling in case both vowels are labial, back or low or any combination of these. In the case of the palatal, illabial, mid vowels, hiatus filling is optional.
Our research question is whether the realization of vowel clusters in language acquisition meets the phonological claims. We intended to describe the temporal properties of the vowel clusters in 4-year-old and 6-year old children’s speech. Our main hypothesis was that there would be a change in pronunciation of the various hiatus contexts and contexts containing a palatal approximants in an intervocalic position.
