Analysis of Hungary–China Trade Relations in the Light of Maritime Freight Transport
Abstract
Thanks to its geographical location and logistical potential, Hungary is playing an increasingly important role in the distribution of Chinese goods in Europe. The aim of this study is to analyse trade and freight transport relations between Hungary and China, with a particular focus on the role and impact of maritime freight transport. In our research, we examined the trends in global maritime transport in the recent period, paying particular attention to the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical tensions, and the Belt and Road Initiative (OBOR). The study uses statistical data and SWOT analysis to evaluate the development of Hungarian-Chinese trade relations, highlighting the role of Chinese investments in the electric vehicle industry and battery manufacturing. This can provide answers for a better understanding of regional logistics networks and global trade dynamics, with a particular focus on the future prospects of Chinese-Hungarian economic cooperation.
