Reminder about the meeting of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences' Transportation and Vehicle Science Committee
Abstract
On November 26, 2025, Dr. Ádám Török, the chairman of the committee, welcomed the participants at Széchenyi István University, introducing the program consisting of three lectures. Dr. Balázs Horváth served as the chairman, who highlighted that it is now a tradition that the last meeting of the year will be held in Győr. First, Dr. András Rudolf Lakatos presented his methodology - prepared with his co-authors - for estimating the operating costs of city buses with different propulsion systems. . The presentation was followed by a lively professional discussion, including on the charging levels of electric vehicles, the method of projecting cost elements and the management of infrastructure costs. The comments raised the accuracy of human and indirect costs, as well as the possibility of incorporating previous research results. Secondly, Dr. Dániel Hörcher and Dániel Tordai reported on their research conducted within the framework of an OTKA project, which examined the role of congestion in discrete choice models. After a detailed methodological description and presentation of the results, the discussion focused on issues such as the comparability of revealed and stated preference methods, differences in time-money values, research limitations and generalizability of the results. Thirdly, Dr. András Lajos Nagy presented the full life-cycle environmental impacts of different vehicle drives, with a special focus on the potential benefits of e-fuel. The question of the precise use of the term “sustainable mobility” was also raised among the contributions.References
