New occurrence of Eusphecia melanocephala (DALMAN, 1816) in Hungary (Lepidoptera: Sesiidae)
Abstract
Eusphecia melanocephala (Dalman, 1816) is a rare species in Hungary, detected only by exit holes and larvae from the Gerecse Mountains, Őrség and Somogy County. One female adult was found in Horánszky street, 8th district, downtown Budapest, on 18.VI.2023, which was collected and deposited in the Hungarian Natural History Museum. This is the first hitherto known adult specimen of this species observed in Hungary. It was probably introduced accidentally to the downtown of Budapest.
