Data to the Lepidoptera fauna of the vicinity of Sopron (Lepidoptera)
Abstract
This article presents the findings of the author related to Lepidoptera between 01.04.2026 and 05.04.2026 near Sopron (Hungary). A total of 36 species were observed. The number is considered quite low and was caused by the unsuitable weather conditions. Acleris abietana (Hübner, [1822]) is reported for the third time from the country and for the first time from the Transdanubean region of Hungary. One protected species, Endromis versicolora (Linnaeus, 1758) was found, which is an iconic early spring moth in the birch mixed forests of the Sopron Mountains. This article serves as proof, that even in this well researched environment, with unsuitable weather conditions, finding species with particular faunistic importance is still possible.
