The metallurgical aspects of the 200-year-old Hungarian Academy of Sciences
Abstract
At the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA), which was established roughly parallel to the industrialization of Hungary during the reform era, the prominent representatives of metallurgy still represent their metallurgical specialty and scientific field, which has always been important in the industrial development. Both the previous and current changes in the structure of the academic departments, and the evolution and reorganization of the technical-engineering sciences, are projected onto several decades-long historical eras. Major transformations of the metallurgical industrial history and organizational changes within the Hungarian Academy of Sciences are also presented, which partly reflect the significant changes that have occurred in the metallurgical sciences in Hungary during these two hundred years.
