Abstract

Our publication is about the interdisciplinary analysis of the historical background of the 2020 Nagorno-Karabah War. The region which was mostly inhabited by ethnic Armenians, seceded from Azerbaijan after six years of fighting, and it finally joined Armenia in 1994. The conflict remained without a resolution, instead it gradually turned out to be a low intensity conflict for the next decades, until the autumn of 2020. Our publication is about the analysis of this era based on historical and mili-tary scientific perspectives. The topic is still relevant, due to the fact that the frozen conflict turned hot last year, and after a short but high intensity war Nagorno-Karabah became a part of Azerbaijan again. We assume that the Russian mediated peace accord won't be able to solve the conflict permanently, so the deeper understanding of the way of war of the participants and the context of the historical events is still relevant.
