Can the European Union’s climate policy be successful?

Abstract

The various impacts of climate change directly affect human communities as well as both the living and non-living environment. Given that we are dealing with a global change process, the consequences affect everyone on every continent. Events resulting from the harmful effects of climate change, such as increasingly extreme weather phenomena, can be observed in many EU countries, including our own. Consequently, the aim of the research presented in this article is to examine the European Union’s climate policy to determine whether the desired results can be achieved by meeting the formulated objectives. We assess the results achieved so far by the climate policy and examine the chances of achieving the set goals both locally and globally, taking into account the EU’s capabilities and opportunities. We place particular emphasis on addressing the future harmful impacts and risks of climate change for the sustainable life and development of the community.
