Abstract

The essay analyses the causes of religious extremism, roots, the role of the Jihad in the MENA countries. The author concludes that the religious extremism is only one of the problems facing the region, and its appearance is different country by country. The causes can be clarified only by looking back in history. The author analyses the disputable role of Jihad in the Islam especially if somebody doesn’t know the main points of Islam and the different understandings of Jihadism. Nowadays the main contradiction appears not among Muslims and the West, but among moderate and radical Muslims.
