The Joint Civilian/Military use of the Ohio National Guard's Airfields

  • Sándor Kocsis

Abstract

The five Ohio National Guard flying units operate from four civil airfields. This is governed by Joint Use Agreements entered into at the highest federal level with
the local „proprietors”. The federal government’s basis for the cost of the use of the airfield is the percentage that the government use represents of the annual traffic, applied to the direct operational cost of the jointly used flying facilities. Thus the Ohio National Guard avoids a májor portion of the necessary expenses of
operating these airports, which results in significant monetary savings for it.
