150 years ago, 2nd July, 1849 was the first air assault of the world executed. Its historical frames were the last events of the revolutions 1848. The target was
Venice that was fully blockaded from land and sea by the Austro-Hungarian Imperial and Royal Force. After presenting the contemporary situation the Author describes the reasons of the offence on Venice, the preparations and procession of the siege, than he summarizes its lessons learned. In the essay he
also presents the new equipment that was implemented during the air assault, the balloon-bomb and its later version used during the Second World War.
