Illegal immigration problems in Greece

Abstract

In this article the author analyses the current situation of illegal immigration in the EU member Greece. The problem is considered to be relevant nowadays because of the permanent migration pressure on the borders of the European Union, the Schengen zone and our country as well. Thanks to its geographical location, Greece as the guardian of the European Union's south-eastern borders plays important role in this process. In the same time, the EU pays particular attention to fight against illegal immigration and to the security of its borders in the region which as a co-operation field may contribute to manage the complex phenomenon effectively.
