Cyprus’ irregular accession to the European Union

Abstract

According to the Annan-plan a „Cypriot State Alliance” could join on 1st May 2004 as a federal state the confederation-like European Union. The plan failed. In contrary, the Republic of Cyprus joined the EU, but de facto without the occupied northern territories.
