Abstract

NATO’s 2010 Strategic Concept identifies cooperative security as one of three essential core tasks to be achieved in part “through a wide network of partner relationships with countries and organizations around the globe”. The Alliance adopted a new more effective and flexible partnership policy in April 2011. Over the past decade, NATO and Japan have developed meaningful, practical cooperation. Japan as one of the global partners is making a valuable and significant contribution to international and regional peace and security.
