The function and status of the „garrison main hospital” in Pest. Based on the the protocol of the review 1856

Abstract

The Hungarian military health care system was established during the reign of Maria Theresia and Joseph II, and an important part of it was the quality assurance of the institutions. Between 1849 and 1871 the Honvédkórház (the Military Hospital of the Hungarian Defence Forces Medical Centre) was located in the building of Ludoviceum. The protocol of the audit 1856 in the collection of the Military Archive in Budapest gives a lot of information about this period of the hospital.
