Regulations for the Hungarian Border Guard on the use of weapons between 1945 and 1958

Abstract

The publication discusses some of the theoretical issues related to the use of weapons within the Hungarian Border Guard and the specific regulations on the use of weapons in the years 1945–1958 on the basis of regulations, decrees, ministerial orders and service regulations. Based on documents from the Archives of the National Archives of Hungary, the author describes the actual implementation of some of these provisions in particular cases. He also examines the correlation among the changes in the regulations on the use of weapons in different periods of time, the current situation of the border guard organisation and the political changes in the background.
