Abstract

On the 22nd International Congress of Onomastic Sciences (Pisa, 29 August – 3 September, 2005)

ICOS held its 22nd International Congress of Onomastic Sciences under the title “Names in Time and Space” in Pisa, Italy between 29th of August and 3rd of September, 2005. First-day opening plenary lectures were followed by twenty-minute section papers on three days. The approximately 500 lectures were given in six thematic sections each including two subsections. Hungarian Onomatology was represented by the nine Hungarian participants in almost all sections. At the end of each day section papers were supplemented by thematic presentations (e.g. presenting different books, journals, publications, home pages on Onomastics). On the last day ICOS held its general assembly, which chose the new management of the organisation and decided on the venue of the 2008 congress. Lectures delivered in the congress will soon be published in several volumes.
