Abstract
This paper presents a procedure, which allows the researcher to apply speech melodies, visually represented by musical scores, on spoken utterances. Our motivation to develop this procedure is that Fónagy and Magdics (1967) published hundreds of musical scores of spoken utterances reflecting different emotions and attitudes, and we wish to examine the validty of those musical scores, i.e. if they can be used for practical purposes. The paper presents the steps we implemented in Praat to apply the musical scores on the utterances. In the future, we wish to conduct perceptual tests to establish if listeners are able to decode the emotions and attitudes that are expressed by those melodies according to Fónagy and Magdics.
