Kazay Endre (1876–1923): A „magyar Scheele” – gyógyszerész, kémikus, polihisztor
Abstract
The Hungarian Chemical Journal (Magyar Chemiai Folyóirat), founded in 1895, attracted many authors who worked at the intersection of pharmacy and chemistry. One such figure was Endre Kazay, whose name today survives primarily in the history of Hungarian pharmacy. Yet the twenty-five papers he published in the journal between 1904 and 1921 - spanning spectroscopy, refractometry, capillary chemistry, silicate chemistry, and early organic chemistry - constitute a remarkable scientific legacy in their own right. The present article aims to restore this once insufficiently recognised scholar to the collective memory of the Hungarian chemical community.
