Author Guidelines
Publication Schedule and Deadlines
The journal is published twice a year, in June and November. The deadlines for manuscript submission are partly linked to SZOKOE events and partly set on an individual basis. The editorial office decides in which issue a given article will be published based on its topic, its compliance with content-related and formal requirements, and the extent of any revisions requested in the reviewers’ reports.
Manuscript Submission
The journal welcomes submissions of scholarly manuscripts that engage with the use, research and teaching of languages for specific purposes (LSP). Manuscripts should present original, preferably empirical research. They must not have been previously published or be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts should be submitted by email to SZOKOE at: szokoe@gtk.bme.hu
Language and Length of Manuscripts and Abstracts
Porta Lingua publishes articles in Hungarian and English. In exceptional cases, and subject to approval by the editorial office, submissions in French may also be considered. Articles should ideally be approximately 20,000–25,000 characters in length, including spaces. Each manuscript must be accompanied by an abstract of 150–200 words in both Hungarian and English, together with five keywords in both languages. The title of the article must also be provided in English in all cases.
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Submitted manuscripts are considered to be the authors’ own intellectual work. In preparing manuscripts, the use of AI is acceptable only to a limited extent, for example for generating titles and ideas, preparing summary translations of source materials, structuring written materials, checking and improving language and style, or creating illustrations. In such cases, authors must clearly indicate the use of AI-based tools and the manner in which they were used, either in the main text or in a note.
Failure to disclose such use, or the presentation of content generated with the assistance of AI as the author’s own intellectual work, constitutes unethical and unacceptable research conduct and will be treated in the same manner as plagiarism. The authors of submitted manuscripts bear sole responsibility for the authenticity and legal compliance of the content submitted for publication.
