Abstract

During fires in closed spaces, firefighters' work often becomes almost impossible because of smoke and gases. To make firefighting safe, methods and equipment needed to be invented that could effectively protect the firemen. This is possible in two ways: by filtering the contaminated air, or breathing oxygen or clean air.
