The development of WHO EMT guidelines, minimum standards, and the classification process
Abstract
The quality of the international response to health emergencies has become increasingly important in recent decades, as the frequency and complexity of natural and man-made crises continue to grow. The World Health Organization (WHO) Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) system was created as a structured and standardized solution to these challenges, setting uniform requirements for the operation of international health teams. The development of EMT guidelines, the establishment of minimum standards, and the creation of a classification process represent a significant step forward in the field of global health security, as they ensure a rapid, effective, and high-quality health response even in the most critical situations.
