Article review: Failure to catch up

Keywords: Hungary, European Unio, Visegrad countries, public health expenditures

Abstract

For decades, the Hungarian healthcare system has been trying in vain to catch up with the European average and at the same time to innovate. In her two-part series of articles, health economist Éva Orosz examines the catching-up process and shows in a detailed analysis that Hungary's backlog is growing not only compared to the pre-2004 EU14 countries, but also to the Visegrad countries that joined us.
