Knowledge of the sexually transmitted microorganisms causing systemic diseases for high school teachers
Abstract
The role of school and teachers in the health promotion and education of high school students is critical. Biology and classroom lessons should address somedelicate subjects that are difficult to speak about openly and objectively. These subjects include sexually transmitted diseases, the pathogens causing them, and their potential prevention. A significant proportion of pathogens is sexually transmitted and cause malformation in the genital region. In our earlier paper, we discussed these microorganisms and the related knowledge. In the present article, we introduce viruses, which are transmitted sexually, but can cause systemic infections instead of genital lesions. This paper describes the most commonly occurring sexually transmitted viruses in Hungary and the most important information about infection, which can help improve the health education work of high school teachers.
