Abstract
By the end of the XX. century, there were more people who lived in urbanized area than in rural territories in the developed countries. Since then, the rate of urban population has an increased tendency and nowadays, it is not just nature of the developed countries. The growing population density and vehicular traffic, the decreased rate of green spaces in the cities indicated by the urbanization have a deteriorative effect on health. Realizing the issues, the Healthy Cities international programme was launched in the end of the 1980’s due to the contribution and stimulation of the World Health Organization (WHO). First, the technical framework and the tools were determined by the professionals, which help to put the theoretical basics into practice. Later, by these methods, multi-city action plans were created and the health development plans have been evolved. In the XXI. century, we are at the level where these methodologies not only usable in cities and other settlements but theycan be easily transplanted to the field of community programme planning as well.
