Researcher-rescuer research services and the link between floods
Abstract
As a natural disaster, flooding has become a major threat in Hungary in recent decades. This problem is particularly relevant in the light of the consequences of global climate change, which has led to an increase in the frequency of extreme weather events, such as sudden heavy rainfall. These events significantly increase the risk of flooding, especially in areas where natural drainage capacity has been reduced or where urbanisation and industrialisation have resulted in the predominance of artificial surfaces. Such surfaces impede the infiltration of rainwater into the ground, further increasing the risk of flood events.
