Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • I certify that the submission is original work and is not under review at any other journal.
  • Any research presented in the paper that was not carried out by the authors is fully acknowledged in the manuscript.
  • Declare that all of the authors accept the open-access under the Creative Commons licence CC BY-NC-ND, which is applied to the Journal APIS.
  • All necessary ethics and institutional approvals (e.g. animal welfare, human subject) were obtained for the research.
  • All sources of funding are acknowledged in the manuscript.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed on a separate file listed in the manuscript. Figures has to be 300x300 dpi.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Where available, doi URLs for the references have been provided.
  • I have read the privacy statement and agree with the GDPR rules as described.
  • Following the submission, and prior to the commencement of the review process, I agree to make a non-refundable contribution of €100 via wire transfer or credit card as minimal support towards the editorial work.
    In the case of research that is directly related to specifically named, commercially available products, the contribution amounts to €300.

    Please note that reviewers do not receive any remuneration for their efforts; however, as part of the community process, I also undertake to review four (4) articles from other independent authors in the future, provided they fall within my field of expertise.

    This contribution covers essential administrative and technical costs only (e.g., DOI registration, hosting, long-term archiving) and does not influence editorial or peer-review decisions in any way.

Author Guidelines

Apis is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to all aspects of honeybee and pollinator-related sciences, including beekeeping, apitherapy, bee biology, pollination ecology, technology, and rural development.

The journal is Diamond Open Access, published under the Creative Commons licence CC BY-NC-ND, allowing readers to freely read, download, copy, distribute and link to the full texts for non-commercial purposes.

Submission of a manuscript implies that it contains new, unpublished information and is not under consideration elsewhere.
No article processing charges (APCs) are requested.
A small administrative contribution may apply as described in the Author Fees section.

Manuscripts must be written in English (British spelling). Authors whose native language is not English are encouraged to have their papers reviewed by a fluent English speaker prior to submission.
Submissions are made through the online system: https://ojs.mtak.hu/index.php/Apis.

Short communications, case reports, technical notes, and full research articles are welcome.

Authors are asked to keep their manuscripts concise. Footnotes should be avoided. Use continuous line numbering in the text file. Italics should be used only for scientific names.

Title page:
Include the full title, names (in small caps) and affiliations of all authors, complete mailing addresses, e-mails, and ORCID identifiers (register at https://orcid.org/ if needed).

Abstract:
Provide a clear summary of the background, methods, main results and conclusions, not exceeding 500 words. Do not include references.

Keywords:
List 4 – 8 keywords not repeating the title words.

Introduction:
Summarize relevant literature and clearly state the aim of the study.

Materials and Methods:
Describe all materials and methods in sufficient detail to allow replication. Provide information on species, products, and analytical tools used.

Results:
Present results concisely. Avoid duplicating data in tables and figures.

Discussion:
Interpret the findings in relation to existing literature and highlight their significance.

Acknowledgements:
List funding sources, supporting institutions, and any permits obtained.

References:
Follow the Citation Guidelines of the journal. Ensure all cited works are relevant and complete.

Figures and Tables:
Provide figures and tables as separate high-resolution files (minimum 400 dpi, formats: EPS, TIFF, PSD, JPEG).
Each figure and table must be numbered consecutively with an explanatory caption. Use metric units and standard abbreviations only.

Scientific Names:
Scientific names of organisms should be italicized (e.g., Apis mellifera). For plant or insect taxa, include author names when first mentioned.

Proofs:
Page proofs will be sent to the corresponding author as PDF. Corrections must be limited to printer’s errors and returned within 72 hours to ensure timely publication.

Running Title:
Provide a short running title (maximum 30 characters including spaces).

Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses entered in this journal site will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this journal and will not be made available for any other purpose or to any other party.

The data collected on registered and unregistered users fall within the scope of the operation of scientific journals.  These data allow communication during the editing process, informing readers about the published contents; and provide information on the reader habits in aggregate form.

The editors of the journal strive to comply with the privacy industry standards, including the rights granted by the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Email notifications: As a user, you can choose which notifications you want to receive. Log in to your  account; select View Profile, and then select the Notifications tab.

Cookies: When you visit the website, a cookie called "OJSSID" is created and it is stored on the computer of the user visiting the website.  The users can access their cookie settings and cookies from the browser on their computer. We store the IP address and browser’s data of the visitors of the website in a database. This data is deleted from the database when you close the browser.
