The work of health promotion offices in the assessment and promotion of individual health

Abstract

In developed countries, deaths due to cardiovascular and tumor diseases still lead the list. In recent times, diseases affecting a significant population that cause loss of health and which primarily determine the mental life of the population have been recognized more and more. Based on the age group of doctors working in primary health care, it is expected that a significant number of family doctors will join the active staff in the near future, as two-thirds of family doctors are currently over 55 years old. It is precisely for these reasons that prevention and health promotion become essential for every society. One of the main goals of the creation of the Health Promotion Office network was to enhance the primary prevention functions of the health care system with its activities, and to increase the health awareness of the population with its programs. In order to increase the role of the public health, health-centered approach in primary health care, it is also necessary to increase the knowledge and competences of professionals in these areas. The main purpose of establishing the Health Promotion Offices is to improve the health behavior of the population, to increase life expectancy at birth and the number of years spent in good health. Another task is the organization of the participants in primary health care and civil organizations in a partner network, as well as assisting with certain health-promoting activities of primary care (e.g. individual health assessment). The purpose of this article is to present the effectiveness of the individual health assessment and counseling tasks carried out by the Health Promotion Offices of the Szabolcs Szatmár Bereg County Hospitals and University Teaching Hospital and the areas to be improved in the future.
