Review of the genetic possibilities of Hungarian bentonites

Abstract

This paper presents details about the known bentonite occurrences in Hungary. The definition of bentonite is determined, as well as its main laboratory and industrial characteristics. The earlier known forms of the processes
involved with bentonitization and their main base elements are also mentioned. The genetic types of Hungarian bentonite occurrences are presented in detail and these are illustrated with examples.
According to the investigations carried out for this study, 171 bentonite occurrences can be found in Hungary and these belong to thirteen genetic types.
